Address: 33 Gugandi Road Gosford New South Wales 2250 Australia
During this workshop we will be building using the light-straw-clay technique, cobbing and some wall shaping/rendering with either lime (external) or clay renders (internal) on a mostly recycled house. Be part of our journey of building a natural home and get a taste of how (and why) to build insulative and thermal mass walls. We will come together and complete a few different sections of the house whilst learning about the light-straw-clay, cob-wall building techniques and rendering on a curved building. Apart from enjoying the work and camaraderie, there will be opportunities to discuss and learn about other aspects of the build such as building with recycled materials, solar-passive design, water saving and healthy home design choices.
Benjamin is an owner-builder and has hosted more than 200 volunteers over the lifetime of the build, which includes a completed grannyflat/roundhouse. His view is that anyone can build a home including you, and hopes to inspire people along the way to do the same.
This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in a project with other natural-building enthusiasts and learn how to do it yourself. There is also the possibility to stay in the Ecovillage and enjoy the land, water, fresh air and get a taste of community living.
Come for all five days or a few!
